It looks pretty obvious at this stage that Arsenal won’t be needing Mesut Ozil’s services going forward.
Mikel Arteta left the mercurial German playmaker out of his Europa League and Premier League squad in October in what’s proving to be quite a contentious decision.
The Arsenal boss might not need Ozil, but he definitely needs somebody like Ozil.
Prior to Thursday’s win over Dundalk, the Gunners had scored only four goals in their past six games across all competitions, underlining the need for a creative spark.
And with Isco reportedly available in January, the North Londoners would be crazy not to try and get the Spaniard to replace the 32-year-old – for a second time.
It was Isco who replaced Ozil at Real Madrid back in 2013, with the 28-year-old winning a Champions League title in his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to The Mirror, the Spanish giants have made him available this winter and if Arsenal still have a need for a playmaker by then, which they will, then going for the 28-year-old makes total sense.
He would only have 18 months left on his contract in Madrid by January and with a weekly wage of £123,000, he wouldn’t break the bank at the Emirates Stadium.
There’s quite a few Arsenal fans who have questioned Arteta over his call on Ozil, but he could get them back onside if they take a punt on Isco.
