If Fabrizio Romano is right, Liverpool should take major heart from the Italian’s transfer revelation about Arsenal’s interest in Yves Bissouma.
According to the journalist, Arsenal have cooled their interest in signing the 24-year-old.
Romano said on Friday: “I’m told he’s not the hottest name for Arsenal, you know. They are looking for something different.”
And that’s some very good news for one of the other reported suitors in the form of Liverpool.
That’s because Football London reported in January that the Brighton midfielder wanted a summer move to the Emirates.
But that doesn’t look like it’s going to materialise and as a knock-on effect, it sort of opens the door for Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards.
He might well have preferred a move to Liverpool over Arsenal anyway because, well, there’s no comparison between which team is in a better place in terms of football.
But Bissouma, valued at £30 million, is reported to be a lifelong Gunners fan and it’s definitely significant if they’re no longer at the table.
Of course, it doesn’t automatically mean he’s going to Anfield but, with a switch to Mikel Arteta’s side no longer in the equation, it certainly does help the Reds’ chances of bringing him to Merseyside.
