Earlier this week it was reported that William Saliba will be leaving Arsenal on loan in January.

Fans were understandably not best pleased with this development, but unfortunately, the supporters don’t get to make these types of decisions at the Emirates.

There is reportedly plenty of interest in Saliba, including from his home country France, with Nice one club that were reportedly keen to bring him in.

However, it seems as though that move to Nice may be off the cards, as Patrick Vieira has just been sacked by the French outfit, and that may be one of the best things to happen to Arsenal.

The Gunners need to make sure that they send Saliba to the right place to develop his skills, with the 19-year-old seemingly at a bit of a crossroad in his career, and Nice wasn’t that place.

Yes, he would have been able to learn under Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, but the French outfit were in turmoil under the Gunners legend.

Supporters were actively protesting for Vieira to be sacked, and on Friday morning their wishes were granted as the Gunners legend was removed from his role.

Nice now face an uncertain time as they try to appoint another manager, but the good news for Arsenal fans is that this sacking could spell the end of their interest in Saliba, as Vieira was reportedly the one who was pushing for the signing.

Saliba has already wasted months of his development by staying at Arsenal for the first portion of this season and getting no first-team opportunities, so he needs to be loaned out to a club with a bit of stability and Nice simply isn’t that place.

The Gunners were on the verge of wasting another six months of Saliba’s career by sending him to Nice, but luckily it seems as though that option may be taken off of the table.
