There’s a lot of Arsenal fans pining for Mesut Ozil’s return in January – and for very good reason.
The Gunners are 15th in the Premier League table after netting just 10 goals in 12 outings this season.
It’s obvious that Arsenal are missing a creative spark in midfield, a supply line for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
Mikel Arteta has been pretty coy over whether he’s going to register him in his Premier League squad in January, having left him out of that and the Europa League selection in October.
But the North London club’s technical director Edu has perhaps hinted that there’ll be no u-turn.
Edu said this via The Metro, in reference to January: “”It’s quite clear that we need a player with creativity in the middle, we don’t have that in the squad right now.”
If the grand plan was to bring Ozil back into the fold then you could argue that the Brazilian wouldn’t go on record saying that Arsenal need a creative spark.
Arteta is badly missing Ozil, whether he acknowledges it or not, but if the Emirates Stadium side do get their hands on a playmaker, it won’t be the former Germany international, going by Edu’s comments.
