Kieran Tierney is on the brink of signing a new deal with Arsenal.
The Scotland international swapped Celtic for the Gunners in a £25 million deal two years ago.
Despite some injury issues, Tierney has potentially been Arsenal’s most consistent player over the past two seasons when he has been fit.
And Football London have reported on Saturday that the North Londoners will announce it ‘over the coming days’.
Brilliant news for Arsenal
Listen, things aren’t exactly rosy at the Emirates Stadium these days.
Mikel Arteta’s side have just finished eighth in the Premier League for a second season in succession – and to make matters worse, they have no European football of any description next season.
Aside from Granit Xhaka, there hasn’t been much speculation about a vital player leaving Arsenal this summer yet, but the transfer window is barely even open and things could happen on that front.
After all, there is bound to be a few players who may feel that they’ll have to leave the Gunners for the sake of trophies and Champions League football at some point in the near future.
But the implication that Tierney is happy in North London is truly excellent news.
Being one of Arsenal’s best players, this is the sort of profile who could’ve easily attracted interest from bigger fish this summer, once Euro 2020 is over.
But the fact that he still only has eyes for Arsenal, evident by his imminent deal, has to be considered very promising.
