If it wasn’t obvious before, it is now: Liverpool have a massive talent on their hands in the form of Harvey Elliott.

It’s only been nine days since Elliott made his full Premier League debut for the Reds in last weekend’s win over Burnley at Anfield.

But after his performance against Chelsea on Saturday, it’s safe to say there’s really no telling how big this kid could be for Liverpool.

In fact, he could be the biggest bargain of an entire era – not only at Liverpool, but in terms of English football.

Masterpiece

Lord knows that Michael Edwards has orchestrated his fair share of stunning transfers on Merseyside, with the likes of Sadio Mane [£30 million] and Mohamed Salah [£34 million] proving inspired pieces of business relative to their cost.

But the deal for Elliott could be Edwards’s finest yet – his masterpiece.

That’s because the 18-year-old was plucked from Fulham’s academy in 2019 and the 2020 Premier League winners only wound up paying a total of £4.3 million for him.

And if you’re a teenager who’s starting – and finishing games – for Liverpool against Chelsea, the reigning European champions, then that figure is an absolute steal, with Gary Neville labelling him ‘brilliant‘ against Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The term ‘generational talent’ gets bandied around a lot these days for whatever reason but at his peak, it’s frightening to consider how much this lad could be worth to Liverpool.

Nobody at Anfield will be thinking about selling him anytime soon obviously, and the supporters can look forward to watching him continue to develop a lot over the coming years.

But when all is said and done, and Edwards has left the club, this signing might well be remembered as his finest – his masterpiece.
