Going into the Christmas period, Leeds United’s centre-back situation is worrying.
The Whites signed two central defenders during the summer in the form of Robin Koch and Diego Llorente, but both look like they’ll be out until the new year.
It’s a problem because it puts a lot of strain on captain Liam Cooper and Marcelo Bielsa, who has to shuffle his pack to use another player in beside the skipper.
Leeds were linked with Tosin Adarabioyo during the summer and you could forgive United’s hierarchy if they now regret not going after him.
Mo Salah had a pretty quiet game for Liverpool on Sunday and that’s majorly down to the 6’5 Fulham powerhouse, who refused to give the former Ballon d’Or nominee an inch.
What’s worse is that he joined the Cottagers for a nominal fee of £2 million and according to Team Talk, Leeds were keen on the former Manchester City man.
If Bielsa’s side – who lost at home to West Ham on Friday – have a tricky festive period which results in them slipping into a relegation battle [they’re six points clear of the bottom three, in 14th] then perhaps questions will be asked as to why they didn’t go for Adarabioyo.
Yes, they signed two central defenders, but they only had one – Cooper – before those two were added and maybe, just maybe, another one might’ve been better.
