Mauricio Pochettino going back to Tottenham Hotspur is the talk of the town right now.

According to The Athletic, Spurs are in talks with their former manager about getting him back to North London.

It wasn’t a good first half-a-season in charge of Paris Saint-Germain for the Argentine, who failed to deliver a Ligue 1 title or the Champions League trophy.

But Serge Aurier, who joined Tottenham under Pochettino back in 2017, has suggested that the 49-year-old coach will come good next season.

He told L’Equipe on Sunday: “I’ve always respected his work and his choices. I took pleasure in the style he wanted to play – and it’s the one he wants in Paris too. Physically, we were monsters. At PSG, we’ll really see his hand next season.”

Hint?

That last bit is significant and it seems like Aurier may have inadvertently hinted that Pochettino won’t be returning to Tottenham during the summer.

Having been signed from PSG, the Ivory Coast international is likely to have inside information from sources at both clubs, especially in light of the fact he is also being linked with a return to the French capital himself.

And if he expects Pochettino to still be at the club beyond this summer then that is quite telling.

After all, the Ligue 1 giants themselves are ‘very happy‘ with the South American, as revealed by Leonardo at the weekend, and reports from their side during the week have indicated that they aren’t worried about losing him.
