Celtic announced last week that Boli Bolingoli had left the club on loan.

The writing had been on the wall for Bolingoli when he flew to Spain earlier in the summer against quarantine protocol.

As a result, Celtic, whose next two matches were postponed, slapped him with a hefty fine and he was given a three-match ban.

Even without that incident, Bolingoli looked finished at Parkhead under Neil Lennon, but he was still a left-back option and now the Hoops must replace him.

And should the Celtic boss try and lure Ryan Sessegnon of Tottenham Hotspur to Glasgow?

Spurs have just signed Sergio Reguilon and Football London reported that the Spaniard’s arrival will make the North Londoners try loan out the 20-year-old Englishman.

Sessegnon only joined the club for £20 million last summer, but it was a dismal first season under Mauricio Pochettino and later Jose Mourinho, with the consensus being that he isn’t ready for Premier League football.

Spurs might turn up their nose at the idea of Scottish football preparing him, but Kieran Tierney is one of the best left-backs in English football and there’s no prizes for guessing where his education came.

Sessegnon, who grew up idolising Rangers manager Steven Gerrard during his Liverpool days, is a huge talent.

But he needs a club. Celtic need a left-back. Lennon and Peter Lawwell need to make an enquiry.
