Back in August, Goal reported that Everton were set to suffer a transfer blow as the flamboyant Brazilian winger Éverton Soares prepared to join Benfica.

That move eventually materialised, with the Portuguese giants spending €20 million (£18.1 million) on the forward who has 16 caps for the Brazil national team.

While Carlo Ancelotti’s side haven’t suffered that much, seeing as they’re currently sat at the top of the Premier League, Éverton showed the Toffees what they could’ve had with a mesmeric display against Lech Poznan last night.

SofaScore shows that the 24-year-old completed all eight of his attempted dribbles in the Europa League clash, as Benfica record a 4-2 victory.

Éverton left Poland with an assist under his belt too, while he also had 55 touches, made two key passes and won an impressive 11 ground duels from an attempted 14.

That was not the full extent of his industrial exploits, however.

The silky winger defied his stereotype by recording three tackles, two clearances and one interception, while he also wasn’t dribbled past once.

As aforesaid, we doubt Ancelotti will be too fussed seeing as his side are currently leading the way in England’s top-flight.

However, there are surely some Everton supporters who are disappointed to see the summer transfer target thriving somewhere that isn’t on Merseyside.
