It’s pretty obvious by now that Leeds United new boy Rodrigo is not a number 10.

Marcelo Bielsa played his £30 million signing in attacking midfield in the win over Fulham last week, but took him off at half-time.

With Pablo Hernandez being 35 and Tyler Roberts unproven in the Premier League, Leeds really could do with another playmaker.

And with Ross Barkley available on loan, should United take a serious look at the Chelsea man?

According to The Telegraph, the Blues want any loan suitor – which includes Aston Villa – to pay the 26-year-old’s full £120,000 per week wages.

Barkley had a month-long loan spell at Elland Road under Neil Warnock in 2013 and there is cause to bring him back.

As brilliant as Hernandez is, he isn’t going to play every game and as, mentioned, Roberts can’t be trusted to supply Bamford or Rodrigo up front until he proves himself at this level.

Rodrigo is a goalscorer but, like many strikers, he can only eat what he’s being fed.

During his last season at Everton, Barkley set up an average of 2.3 chances per game. David Silva, in the same season, managed 2.4 [Whoscored].

Is Barkley on Silva’s level? Probably not, but it does illustrate that he can be a creative spark and one that Leeds probably need to help Bamford and Rodrigo.
