'Our future': City fans beg club to keep 'star in the making' linked with exit

Manchester City keeper Gavin Bazunu is reportedly attracting interest from Championship sides ahead of a potential loan move to the division next season.

According to BBC Solent, the 19-year-old shot-stopper, who is currently with Portsmouth for the season, has caught the eye of Championship clubs, namely AFC Bournemouth.

Bazunu has been excellent with Portsmouth on loan this season, with the Dublin-born talent also asserting himself as the Republic of Ireland’s number one in recent international breaks.

And now, it looks like Bazunu is set for a move to the Championship next summer, with the youngster making a real name for himself for both club and country. But, it could still be some time before the City talent makes his debut for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Indeed, City have an impressive squad of keepers in the first-team, with Ederson Moraes the clear number one with Zack Steffen impressing as his deputy this season. Scott Carson is also on City’s books as a homegrown third-choice option.

And because of this depth, it could be some time before Bazunu is given a shot in the City senior squad. Meaning that some clubs could be keen on signing the teenager next year on a permanent deal, a proposition that worries some supporters.

The future of Bazunu will be an interesting one to follow for many supporter groups, and even with the keeper likely to leave again next year on loan, City fans are growing worrisome over the youngster’s future.

Indeed, his performances and displays could tempt teams with money to splurge on the youngster. And City fans are hopeful the club keep hold of Bazunu.
