Former Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner has taken a dig at Steven Gerrard by boasting he has more Premier League medals than the ex Liverpool captain.
The Dutchman failed to establish himself as a United regular, but maintains he was a success.

Speaking to newspaper De Telegraaf, Buttner backed his own record.
He said: “I was on the pitch for United 30 times. Who can say that he has been a champion in England? I can. Even Steven Gerrard did not succeed.
“I’ve become a much better football player, I played in the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Bayern Munich and Arjen Robben.”

Steven Gerrard quit Liverpool in 2015 and recently retired after a short spell at LA Galaxy, infamously failing to win a league title during his career despite numerous other trophies and many personal accolades.
Buttner signed for United in 2012 but could not dislodge Patrice Evra from the side during his spell at Old Trafford.
He was sold to Dynamo Moscow in 2014 before going on loan to Anderlecht last season. The 27-year-old has recently signed for Dutch side Vitesse.
While his quotes will provide United fans with some amusement, of course, the same rule applies the other way around.
Former Liverpool full-back Djimi Traore has more Champions League medals (1) to his name than United legend Eric Cantona (0).
