Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has suggested that more contract renewals are on the horizon at Liverpool, branding the recent contract updates as ‘great news’.

It may not have been the most exciting transfer window for Liverpool so far. The only senior player signed has been Ibrahima Konate, but that isn’t to say that work hasn’t been going on behind the scenes.

Indeed, there have been plenty of new contracts handed out, with Virgil van Dijk the most recent player to put pen to paper on a new deal, and Klopp says there’s more to come.

What’s been said?

Klopp was speaking about the recent contract news at Liverpool.

“Maybe it’s not the most exciting but if you are a real Liverpool fan, you are really happy about the news the club delivered in the last few weeks. So, signing Alisson Becker until I don’t know when, same with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Virgil obviously very recently and others will follow, so that’s great, that’s absolutely great news,” Klopp said.

Great news

As Klopp says, this isn’t the most exciting news, but it is great news nonetheless.

Liverpool’s squad right now is packed full of world-class talent, and their best bet of being successful in the coming years is to keep this group together.

So, the question is, who will be the next player to sign a new deal? Well, it’s long been reported that Liverpool are negotiating with Mohamed Salah over a new contract, so he could be next, which would perhaps be the biggest announcement the Reds could make at this point in time.
