According to The Daily Mail, the Premier League club had to pay Estudiantes a transfer fee of £8 million in order to secure the services of the 19-year-old central defender.
The youngster has made only a handful of first-team appearances in his career so far, but he has experience of playing for the Argentina Under-20 side.
