Osvaldo Ardiles has praised Tottenham Hotspur for picking up three crucial points against Bournemouth yesterday.

Spurs managed to run out 1-0 winners against the Cherries, with Christian Eriksen getting on the scoresheet.

Tottenham were not at their best during the contest, but the three points were vital – with some of their rivals dropping points.

Manchester United and Liverpool drew, while Chelsea and Arsenal suffered shock defeats to Crystal Palace and Watford, respectively.

Tottenham’s win over Bournemouth has now propelled them up into third position in the Premier League table.

But Ardiles has warned that Tottenham will have to be in much better form in midweek, when they take on Real Madrid in Champions League action.

If Tottenham can beat Madrid at the Bernabeu then they will almost confirm their place in the knockout stages of this season’s Champions League.

Spurs have won their first two matches in Europe this term, leaving them in a commanding position in their group.
