Tottenham Hotspur kick off their Champions League campaign this evening as they take on Monaco at Wembley Stadium – and club legend Ossie Ardiles is backing them to claim a victory.
Spurs hammered Stoke City 4-0 in the Premier League on Saturday to really kickstart their season, but Mauricio Pochettino must now turn his attention to the Champions League.

For the first time since the 2010/11 season, Tottenham are in Europe’s premier club competition, and will be hoping to progress into the knockout stages as they tackle Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow in the group stage.
That all kicks off tonight when Tottenham host Monaco, but they will be playing the game at Wembley Stadium having struck a deal to play their European games at the national team stadium whilst work continues at their White Hart Lane home.

Many believe that the upheaval of splitting time between White Hart Lane in the Premier League and Wembley in the Champions League will be a major disadvantage for Tottenham, especially given how Arsenal struggled to handle a similar arrangement in the late 1990’s.
However, one man who doesn’t believe that the switch to Wembley will be an issue against Monaco is Spurs legend Ossie Ardiles.

The Argentinian, who both played for and managed Spurs, took to Twitter on Tuesday to discuss Tottenham’s upcoming Champions League clash – and he’s confidently predicting a Spurs win.
Ardiles admits that he thinks ‘Spurs will prevail’ against Monaco, and believes Pochettino’s men are regaining their top form, and even thinks that the move to Wembley will benefit Spurs due to the big ptch.
Ardiles did though warn Spurs against complacency as Monaco have made a strong start to their league season, which is something that should be on the mind of manager Pochettino.
