Erik Lamela was among the crestfallen Argentina stars as the team lost the Copa America final on penalties to Chile.
Chile’s win marked their second successive tournament victory, while Argentina’s loss extends their run without the trophy, which they last won in 1993.

Lamela was a late substitute for Argentina, although did not take a penalty in the fateful shootout which decided the game.
Former national hero and Tottenham club icon Ossie Ardiles sent a message to the current Spurs star, with words of encouragement despite the defeat.
Lamela is coming off the back of a promising season at Tottenham, one which saw him establish himself as a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
The winger will now have a chance for some vital rest but will want to use his near misses as a motivating factor for the season ahead.

Ardiles also gave his view that Lionel Messi should reverse his sudden decision to retire from international football in wake of the loss.
