The Sun had claimed earlier this month that London rivals Chelsea were hopeful of persuading him to jump ship, a report which has quickly proven to be incorrect.

The news of Pochettino’s commitment has been welcomely received by all associated with the club, and Ardiles is thrilled for his fellow Argentine and all of his staff.

He paid tribute to Daniel Levy, insisting the chairman is proving to be a fine custodian for the club.

Levy has previously attracted criticism from fans for the way he has enforced a very strict transfer budget and wage structure at the club.

While the wage limits appear set to stay for now, it is claimed that Spurs may be ready to spend this summer, with The Times reporting they hope to have £150 million available for transfers, and this helped persuade Mauricio Pochettino to stay put.
