Tottenham legend says his side are the best in the country when all players are fit.
Ossie Ardiles
Tottenham Hotspur legend Ossie Ardiles has boldly claimed that his side are the best team in the country – when they play to their full potential.
Spurs are currently third in the Premier League – 10 points behind runaway leaders Chelsea.
They are also coming off a tough period where they have failed to score in three of their previous five matches in all competitions, including a 1-0 defeat to Gent.
Former Tottenham player and manager Ardiles made his comments via Twitter yesterday.
The case for Ardiles’ comments to be correct would hinge around their 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League earlier this year, in which Dele Alli scored twice at White Hart Lane.
Yet Chelsea managed to beat Spurs earlier in the season, and have been more ruthless, scoring six more goals while conceding the same number.
Tottenham have been hit by injuries at times this season, with Danny Rose and Erik Lamela their most notable absentees, while Harry Kane missed a six week stretch earlier in the season.
Chelsea also did not have to contend with European football as a distraction after finishing just 10th last season.
