The signings haven’t been coming thick and fast for Leeds United, but there was still two pieces of excellent news in West Yorkshire last week.
Leeds have made only two senior additions this summer and just one – Junior Firpo – if you’re not counting a permanent deal to sign Jack Harrison, who’s been at the club three years.
But new contracts for Marcelo Bielsa and Illan Meslier represented brilliant news for the Whites last week all the same.
And according to The Telegraph, Victor Orta has another exciting plan up his sleeve.
The English publication reported on Sunday that Leeds were plotting to sign Patrick Bamford up to a new deal, amid speculation of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Exciting
Bamford is technically one of the best goalscorers in English football and keeping him at Elland Road for the long term has to be considered exciting, if it does indeed happen.
Remember, only three players – Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Bruno Fernandes – scored more than Bamford’s 17 Premier League goals last term.
Finding a striker this effective in the top flight really isn’t an easy task but the fact that Leeds already have one – and could extend his contract – is more good news, after Bielsa and Meslier’s announcements last week.
