Leeds United are keen on signing Boca Juniors midifielder Nahitan Nandez, report Tuttomercatoweb.

This is a potential deal which could be Leeds United’s most impressive yet under technical director Victor Orta.

It is the sort of move Leeds fans might have imagined Marcelo Bielsa would have pushed for when he came to the club.

Bielsa instead has focused on players with English Championship experience. Nandez would bring something different to the table.

Nandez, 23, is a Uruguay international midfielder who featured at last summer’s World Cup, playing in every match.

He is a regular at Boca too, providing an assist for the club’s goal in the Copa Libertadores final this year against River Plate.

The central midfielder would be an upgrade on Adam Forshaw for the Whites, and would be a Premier League level addition.

With that in mind, Leeds’ transfer market success with regard to Nandez will depend on earning promotion.

They will need Premier League level finances to persuade Boca to sell or meet his release clause, and the status to tempt the Uruguayan.

If they can get him, it could be Orta’s best deal yet at Elland Road.
