David Ornstein has suggested on Sky Sports that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta remains under no danger of the sack.
Arsenal exited the Europa League to Villarreal last night, which has led to calls for him to go to grow significantly louder.
Arteta was always likely to be backed by Arsenal fans while they were still in Europe.
However, without the Europa League to focus on now, Arsenal’s season looks to have been a disaster.
The Gunners sit in ninth and now face the prospect on missing out on European football for the first time in the past 25 years.
With Arsenal already looking to make major changes in the summer, recruitment could now be made much more difficult.
But Arsenal’s board appear to be keeping faith in Arteta’s managerial skills to turn things around.
“I think Arsenal continue to back Mikel Arteta, I certainly have heard no suggestions to the contrary,” Ornstein said.
“It is clear that the pressure is on him, and is on many people at Arsenal.
“There are an increasing number of fans who are turning against him. He’s certainly not faultless.
“But Arsenal seem to think that Arteta is part of the solution not a key part of the problem and there is a lot else that needs to change at the club.

“I think it would be fair on Mikel Arteta, in the view of the Arsenal hierarchy, to allow him this summer transfer window and longer to prove he can be a success at Arsenal so I don’t think his position is under threat.”
Arsenal showing so much confidence is admirable in modern day football, where short-termism often reigns, but it is also a huge risk.
Arteta has no proven track record to back up his work and although the noises coming out about his coaching credentials are positive, the Arsenal boss is yet to really take the side forward on the field.
Arteta admitted himself last night that he was starting to feel as if his job was under threat.
And if Arteta is kept around progress will surely have to be made quickly next season, otherwise the frustration around the Emirates Stadium will only continue to grow.
