GOAL reporter Charles Watts even mentioned (via YouTube) how the Gunners had done “a lot of groundwork” to sign the Palmeiras talent.

Ultimately, it made a ton of sense for Mikel Arteta’s side to secure the £26 million-rated (The Sun) midfielder’s signature.

Sitting at the top of the table, Arsenal are firmly in contention to win the Premier League.

As depth remains a key ingredient to winning league titles, an understudy to arguably the side’s most irreplaceable player in Thomas Partey is undoubtedly crucial.

The Ghanaian international is known for constantly succumbing to injury, which is why the arrival of Danilo made sense on all levels.

Mohamed Elneny simply does not possess the passing range to rival Partey’s while Albert Sambi Lokonga is much more of a natural No.8.

The Gunners do not consider Danilo as a priority

However, the ever-reliable David Ornstein has claimed in a latest report for the Athletic that Danilo is not a target for Arsenal currently.

While acknowledging that the 21-year-old has constantly been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, Ornstein has mentioned how the club have other priorities in the market with January in mind.

Arsenal must have other alternatives in mind

While names such as Mykhailo Mudryk and Matheus Cunha have been touted in attacking positions, the club’s need for a defensive midfielder cannot be understated.

At the backend of last season as well, it was Thomas Partey’s injury that played a key role in Arsenal losing grasp of Champions League qualification.

If not Danilo, the Gunners must have a list of other alternatives in mind to bolster the defensive midfield position.

In case the club do not, they may be planning to fail because failing to plan, as the No.6 department is in need of strengthening and badly.
