Aston Villa purchased Orjan Nyland last summer before injury ended his season just after the turn of the year.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland is seemingly already looking forward to the Premier League campaign as he stated on Instagram ‘bring on next season’.
The 28-year-old moved to Villa Park last summer when then-manager Steve Bruce snapped him up for a fee of £1 million from German side FC Ingolstadt, as reported by the Express and Star.
But within six months of his arrival, Nyland was on the sidelines for the rest of the season when he ruptured his Achilles in January after making 23 appearances, as reported by Sky Sports.
One week after Villa earned promotion to the Premier League, Nyland posted this message on his personal Instagram account which was attached with a video of his time at the club so far.
It remains to be seen what part Nyland plays for Villa upon their return to the promised land, with Jed Steer manning the gloves since the start of March.
Just before Nyland got injured, Villa did sign another goalkeeper in Lovre Kalinic, but he suffered a concussion during the home defeat to West Brom in February and since then he wasn’t able to reclaim his place in between the sticks.
As things stand, Steer, Nyland and Kalinic will be battling for that number one spot next season, with all three players, at one point, being Villa’s number one.
But towards the back end of the campaign, especially during Villa’s 10-game winning run, Steer made the place in between the sticks his own and it won’t be a surprise to see him starting the first game of next season.
