The Southampton star is very impressed with the English players at White Hart Lane.

Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu has been speaking the England v Spain fixture this evening and commented on how the improvement of Tottenham Hotspur players has seen the England team go up a level.

The Spaniard will of course be cheering on his nation this evening. But considering his history as a Chelsea and Southampton player he certainly knows a thing or two about English football.

Speaking to Marca he made his belief that England have improved thanks to Spurs quite clear:

“England needs its national team to do well, now there’s a new coach and it seems to be slowly getting better.

“They’ve formed a good spine to their team, especially with Tottenham Hotspur players, they’re very talented.”

England’s Tottenham contingent is certainly impressive – with Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker all in the England reckoning.

Of course, Alli and Kane won’t be playing tonight but they are usual members of an England team that has been utilising Tottenham players more and more in recent times.

Mauricio Pochettino is happy to use plenty of young English talent and is also installing a style of play that is currently very popular.

England fans will hope that these Tottenham players can, as Romeu fears, go on to be regular heroes for their nation.

Spurs fans will hope for the same at club and international level.
