Opta stats show Tottenham eclipse every side in Europe in this category

Tottenham Hotspur have been watertight at the back so far this season.

Spurs have the best defensive record in Europe according to stats gathering information company Opta, eclipsing some of the most elite clubs on the continent with their average of just 0.55 goals conceded per game.

Although Maruico Pochettino’s men have received criticism for their impotence in front of goal this season, their strength at the other end of the park has enabled them to go 11 games games unbeaten in the Premier League thus far, and they remain the only side left in the English top flight not to have lost a game.

Opta posted their findings to their official Twitter account, with Spurs ahead of some of Europe’s giants including Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus on the list:

The north London side will certainly have to keep up their fine defensive record if they are to challenge for the Premier League title, with their struggles to find the back of the net proving problematic in regards to winning games.

The recent return from injury of Harry Kane should help solve that issue though, and many fans and pundits alike are expecting Tottenham to mount a serious push for the title when the Premier League returns to action after the international break.
