Leeds have been linked to Jerry Mbakogu all summer.

Leeds United’s waiting game could have paid off over Jerry Mbakogu.
The Whites were linked with Mbakogu since January, and it was reported they had a £3.5 million deal in place with Serie B side Carpi to sign the forward [via Gazzamercato]
Leeds chose not to pay up, and now they have an opportunity to sign him for free.
Carpi announced on Monday they had released Mbakogu from his contract at his request.
Paying £3 million for Mbakogu always seemed like a risk, signing him on a free transfer is a different matter entirely.
Nigerian born Mbakogu has an EU passport after acquiring Italian citizenship earlier this year.

Leeds have already signed Patrick Bamford and there were strong signs from Tyler Roberts in pre-season, and at the weekend against Stoke they won with both of them on the bench.
Signing Mbakogu would add depth, give them a more physical option, and it would also mean there is little pressure on him to perform, as he would not be costly or be considered a first choice.
If Leeds do sign him on a free, it will look like a highly impressive deal as almost no matter how he performs, they have saved £3 million they at one stage looked certain to spend.
