So, it’s actually happening. After years of misery and pain under Mike Ashley, the retail tycoon is leaving Newcastle with a takeover imminent.

It spells danger for the rest of the Premier League, who simply cannot compete with the wealth Newcastle are set to possess.

According to The Sun, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund set to take the reins on Tyneside are worth £320bn.

That is ten times more than Manchester City’s Sheik Mansour is worth.

While it’s bad news for others in the grand scheme of things, the takeover is very bad news for Tottenham’s hopes of earning a result on October 17th.

Nuno Espirito Santo takes his side to St James’ Park after the international break, where the atmosphere will surely be absolutely incredible.

Newcastle fans have wanted Ashley gone for many, many years now, and the outpouring of emotion at the first home game following the takeover will be immense.

In our view, that will make life so much harder for Tottenham.

Had they faced the Magpies before this takeover news broke, Spurs would only have to deal with a limp, hopeless side without a win in the Premier League this season.

Now, they will walk straight into a cauldron of noise after England’s biggest sleeping giant was prodded awake.

Bear in mind that Tottenham are on a poor run of form themselves with three Premier League defeats in four games, and we’d back the Magpies for all three points on October 17th.

Tottenham will have to bring their A-game and focus, or they could get caught up in what will surely be the best atmosphere on Tyneside in over a decade.
