After some glimpses of his tremendous ability under José Mourinho last season, Tanguy Ndombele has seen his Tottenham career stall.
Ever since Ryan Mason was hired as interim, and left the £53.8m man out of the Carabao Cup final, things have been bleak for the Frenchman.
As The Athletic detailed, Ndombele was heartbroken to be left on the bench for that game, and is now open to leaving Spurs.
So far under Nuno Espirito Santo, he hasn’t made a single appearance, partly due to the emergence of Oliver Skipp.
However, an incident has occurred which might hand Ndombele a lifeline.
What’s happened?
While playing for England’s Under-21 side last night in the 2-0 win over Kosovo, Skipp was forced off with a groin problem.
The Evening Standard believe he will be assessed by Tottenham this morning, although it certainly didn’t look good.

Skipp hobbled off holding his groin, and with a trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in just three days, it will be a surprise to us if he features.
In that respect, Ndombele could have a chance to show Nuno what he can do, and hopefully resurrect his Tottenham career.
Will Tottenham select Tanguy Ndombele?
Well, Ndombele has been training as usual, and there have been no reports of any injury issues, so we see no reason why he can’t face the Eagles.

Also, it might be a nice game to ease him in.
Crystal Palace have shown signs of promise under Patrick Vieira so far, but are winless in four games under the Frenchman and have scored just two goals.
If there was ever a time for Ndombele’s Tottenham career to get back up and running, it’ll be this Saturday – hopefully, Nuno gives him a chance.
