With Liverpool reportedly planning to submit an £89 million bid to sign Randal Kolo Muani in the summer, it could mean that they have secretly lost faith in Darwin Nunez, in our view.

The £140,000-a-week striker has had a mixed start to life at Anfield, registering a mere 5 goals and 3 assists in the Premier League so far.

Considering the Randal Kolo Muani has been tipped to become a ‘future great’ by Lothar Matthaus, and is one of the most in-form goalscorers in Europe, this could mean that Liverpool internally believe that Darwin Nunez is a bust.

Why reported Kolo Muani bid could mean Liverpool may have given up on Darwin Nunez

Whilst the Uruguayan’s numbers do not make for great reading, the same can be said about his performances. Despite the 23-year-old being an excellent runner in behind and a capable presence on the left wing as well, his finishing as well as his technical ability has left a lot to be desired.

In fact, Michael Owen went as far as to say that he has ‘hardly been coached.’

Many have argued that Darwin Nunez could burst into life once he fixes certain flaws in his game but the questions remains whether Liverpool have the patience for this very process, with Randal Kolo Muani being a readymade striker ready to fit into Jurgen Klopp’s system?

After all, the Frenchman is a ‘super player’ all round, as he has bagged as many as 14 goals in all competitions, whilst also providing 14 assists.

The Frankfurt talisman proved that he is so much more than a No.9, capable of causing havoc when taking up wide positions.

Liverpool are languishing in 9th place in the Premier League table and with the likes of domestic rivals such as Man City, Arsenal and Man United continuing to look light years ahead of them, it remains to be seen whether they persist with the flawed Nunez or splash the cash yet again on a more established forward like Kolo Muani.
