Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Leandro Trossard from Brighton after agreeing personal terms with the Belgian.
That’s what Fabrizio Romano is reporting, and the Italian is usually spot on when it comes to transfer news.
The Brighton winger looks to be close to joining the Gunners, and this could be an absolutely brilliant signing.
Say what you will about Trossard’s recent attitude problems at Brighton – and there is plenty to be said, in terms of on-field talent, you simply cannot knock this player.
He’s been ripping it up at Brighton for a few years now, and he seems to be peaking this season.

His seven Premier League goals this season have been vital to Brighton’s push for the top six, and this signing looks even better when you compare it to the business the Gunners could have done.
Indeed, rather than signing Mykhaylo Mudryk for £88m, Arsenal are signing Trossard for potentially around £25m, and, in our view, not only are they getting better value for money, they’re getting the better player here.
As flash as Mudryk looks, he’s only ever played in the Ukrainian league, and before this season he really wasn’t making that much of an impact.
Yes, he’s been fantastic for Shakhtar in recent months, but he has the same number of goals to his name over in Ukraine as Trossard does in the Premier League.
For a bit of context, the Premier League is UEFA’s number one ranked league in Europe based on coefficients, while Ukraine’s top division is 16th in the rankings – simply put, the standard is miles apart.
Trossard is scoring as many goals in the Premier League as Mudryk was scoring in Ukraine, it’s staggering that the 22-year-old cost so much more than the Brighton star.
It would be unfair to say that Mudryk doesn’t have a lot of potential, but in the middle of a title charge, you need players who are going to perform over the next few months, not in a few years’ time, and right now, it has to be said that Trossard is a better footballer than Mudryk on most metrics.
