At Liverpool, there are plenty of question marks surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah, at a time where he is arguably Europe’s best player.
The 29-year-old’s contract expires in June 2023, and the Reds are yet to make progress in negotiations with their talisman.
According to the Express, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are reluctant to hand huge contracts to players approaching their thirties.
Salah is also said to be demanding £300,000-a-week, a fair salary to request in this era for a player of this otherworldly quality.
If FSG really are concerned about the fact Salah is on the cusp of his thirties, they only have to look at Jamie Vardy to see why those fears are foolish.
Jamie Vardy should make FSG hand contract to Mohamed Salah
What the £140,000-a-week man is doing at the age of 34 is phenomenal.
So far this season, Vardy has scored six goals in seven Premier League games, while also providing one assist.
It’s not just this season, however. As Opta revealed, Vardy has incredibly scored 90 Premier League goals since turning 30.
Only Ian Wright scored more in his thirties.
Mohamed Salah deserves his contract
With all due respect to Vardy, he spent most of his twenties in non-league football, where he probably didn’t take professional care of his body.

After all, this is a man whose pre-match meal consists of three Red Bulls and a ham and cheese omelette.
As Goal document, Vardy has also been known to drink alcohol and eat pizza on the night before games.
In Salah’s case, he takes immense care of his body, which is there for all to see when he rips off his shirt in celebration.

The Egyptian even told 18-year-old Harvey Elliott to watch how much bread he was eating in the Liverpool canteen – he should be a nutritionalist!
Of course, as a Muslim, Salah also doesn’t drink or smoke.
If FSG are reading this and remain concerned about how Salah will perform going into his thirties, they needn’t have any worries.
