Darren Bent has taken to Twitter to praise Arsenal for their business, while also taking a dig at Tottenham for two of their signings in particular.
What’s the story?
Well, after Bent admitted that he likes what the Gunners are doing in the transfer market this summer, one Spurs fan hit back and said that the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko didn’t even make the starting XI at Manchester City.
In response, Bent – who made 79 appearances for Spurs – mocked his old side for throwing “an open top parade” after completing the signing of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.
The duo – aged 33 and 34 respectively – were Antonio Conte’s first two signings of the summer, and should bring plenty of experience to Hotspur Way.

So far this summer, Fabio Paratici – Director of Football at Spurs – has also signed Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Djed Spence and Clement Lenglet, in what has been an excellent transfer window.
With the signings of Jesus, Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira, Arsenal have also had an interesting window.
Ivan Perisic & Fraser Forster will be important to Tottenham
We’re not quite sure why Bent chose to namedrop Perisic and Forster when mocking Tottenham’s business, as we believe the pair will be important players for Conte this season.
Of course, we’re not expecting them to start every week, but experience is invaluable in football.
In Perisic, Conte has a player he’s already lifted a league title with, having guided Inter Milan to the Serie A title in 2021 alongside the Croatian.
Furthermore, Perisic has made 546 appearances throughout his career, winning the Champions League while also reaching the World Cup final.
In Forster’s case, he should prove much more effective as a deputy than Pierluigi Gollini, having racked up 134 Premier League appearances as well as six England caps.
If the pair help Tottenham get into the Champions League ahead of Arsenal again, we’re sure Bent won’t be laughing about their quality.
