Aston Villa have a new face through their doors in Emi Buendia and he is already being bantered by his new teammates.
The 24-year-old posted on Instagram that he will be sitting next to Emiliano Martinez at Aston Villa after his arrival.
Whilst some of the Villa players, including Buendia himself, have returned to pre-season, his fellow countryman hasn’t after he recently won the Copa America.
But when Buendia shared with Martinez that he will be sitting next to him in the dressing room, Targett simply responded in the comments section by saying ‘ooooh frienddsss’ with an emoji of the Argentina flag.
It’s, of course, in reference to Jamie Vardy famously making a similar remark about Kasper Schmeichel and Pierre Emile Hojbjerg greeting one another in the tunnel before Leicester v Southampton, as captured by Sky Sports.
Nonetheless, Villa fans liked Targett’s response, as Buendia was welcomed to the club by the manager and his teammates yesterday.
It helps Villa’s cause that the light-footed playmaker has played in the Premier League before.
And if there are any problems with him trying to settle down then he has Martinez to lean on.
Either way, the Villa supporters are in for a treat because they now have some serious creative talent going forward.
