Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily Podcast, Jermaine Jenas has claimed that Tottenham’s players are no longer playing for the manager, and he believes that will signify the end of Jose Mourinho’s tenure at Tottenham.

It’s been what can only be described as a disastrous week for Tottenham, they’ve lost the north London derby and they’ve been knocked out of the Europa League in embarrassing fashion, and Jenas believes that the players are no longer playing for the manager.

Sadly, the ex-Spurs man believes that means Mourinho will soon lose his job.

“They didn’t seem to be responding to what Jose probably asked of them. I don’t feel like the players are playing for him anymore, and that’s my biggest concern, because there’s only one thing that happens after that, and that’s a manager losing his job,” Jenas said.

It’s fair to say that Mourinho is under pressure.

Managers have been sacked in this sort of position before at Tottenham, and if the players have indeed stopped playing for him, there may be no way back for the ex-Chelsea boss.

If Mourinho does go, he won’t leave much of a legacy behind at Spurs, and that’s a real shame as it looked as though the two-time Champions League winner could have been the man to end their long trophy drought.

Whether or not Spurs do part ways with Mourinho in the coming weeks remains to be seen.
