Glenn Whelan has reacted in a brilliant fashion on Tyrone Mings’ Instagram to his mistake during Aston Villa’s 3-1 win against Fulham on Sunday.
With 15 minutes left on the clock, Villa fans would have thought that they were heading towards another defeat after what was looking like a lacklustre display.
Fulham’s goal came about when Mings produced a moment to forget after his back pass resulted in Aleksandar Mitrovic pouncing on his mistake and putting his team ahead.
It wasn’t pleasant viewing for the Villa faithful, but Mings made up for it when he assisted Trezeguet for his side’s equaliser, before Dean Smith’s side blitzed their opponents by adding two more goals to their name and walking away with an unlikely three points.
Whelan, who was part of Villa’s promotion to the Premier League, responded to Mings’ mistake on his Instagram page.
He wrote: ‘Only man who gets board makes a mistake to get himself revved up… 3-1 sniff.’
The critics would have been out in full force had Villa ended up losing yesterday’s encounter, but Mings can breathe a sigh of relief now.
Whilst Villa have been abject in other games without Jack Grealish, they showcased once again that they can win without their expert ball-carrier.
Now it’s a case of doing it against a Liverpool team that will be in Champions League action on Tuesday.
