Stan Collymore expressed his delight on Twitter after Aston Villa survived relegation from the Premier League.
The former striker pointed out that Villa will now play their 107th season in England’s top-flight, and how only Everton have ‘more’.
Dean Smith’s men recorded a 1-1 draw at West Ham on the final day of the campaign – and thanks to Watford’s defeat against Arsenal, they survived.
Nonetheless, this was the message Collymore sent from his personal Twitter account as Villa survived by the barest of margins.
Collymore wasn’t the only former player who voiced his delight at Villa’s survival, with Gabby Agbonlahor also posting his thoughts on Instagram.
For Villa, they can now plan for next season as the Villa Park faithful will be hoping they can keep hold of Jack Grealish.
He has been their outstanding player this term, but since the restart, the likes of Douglas Luiz and Ezri Konsa have also stepped up.
One thing is for sure, the future is bright for Villa, who will now be hoping to avoid such battles in the Premier League next season.
