Some Arsenal fans on social media have been calling for Granit Xhaka to be given the captain’s armband after seeing his Open Mic video on YouTube.

The Swiss midfielder was the subject of the latest episode in Arsenal’s Open Mic series where they film a player and record everything they say on the pitch during a game.

Xhaka showed off some brilliant leadership qualities in the video, and Gunners supporters were particularly impressed with how he embraced Thomas Partey after his assist for the London club’s third goal against Sheffield United.

Usually, all of the attention would be on the goalscorer, but Xhaka made a point to give credit to Partey, and that’s exactly what you want to see from a captain.

Of course, the 28-year-old being made skipper would mean that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be relieved of his duties, something that has been spoken about recently after the Gabonese forward turned up late for the north London derby last month.

Supporters certainly believe that Xhaka should be captain, and here’s what they’ve been saying on social media…
