One year ago today Leeds United took on QPR in the Championship. The result was a 1-1 draw, with a late Tjaronn Chery penalty cancelling out Chris Wood’s 70th minute opener at Elland Road.

But one of the biggest stories from that night was the starting goalkeeper for Leeds. Marco Silvestri had been sent off in the previous Leeds game. Ross Turnbull had a fractured ankle and the player originally signed to be Leeds’ third-choice stopper, Charlie Horton, had left the club for personal reasons in November and it left Leeds with young stopper Bailey Peacock-Farrell in between the sticks.

Then gaffer Steve Evans was a big fan of the player and was not afraid to throw him in the deep end that night.

It was a good performance from the then-teenage stopper, who soon became a transfer target for Aston Villa, Derby County, Everton and Sunderland as reported by the Daily Mirror.

So what has happened in the 12 months since?

One thing has not happened, the 20-year-old has not played another game for the Leeds first-team.

Leeds snapped up experienced stopper Robert Green in the summer and stuck by Silvestri as back-up, so Peacock-Farrell has had to watch from afar.

A broken hand in October certainly did not help matters.

He did sign a new deal at the club in the summer, highlighting the club’s commitment toward him in the future.

However, he has only featured on the bench once for Leeds this season, when they lost to Sutton United in the FA Cup.

He has perhaps not progressed as well as he might have liked since his breakthrough season last term but he will be hoping to push on again next term.
