Liverpool reportedly wanted to sign the Napoli forward last summer.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis sat down for an exclusive interview with Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, and insisted that he will not be tempted to sell long-term Liverpool target for a penny less than €200 million (£178 million), a year after the Reds reportedly made a move to sign the Italian.
Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for around £145 million in January of this year, but the Merseyside outfit were interested in signing Insigne before the Brazilian had even departed Anfield, according to the Mirror.
The British tabloid claims that the Reds made a £52 million bid for the 5ft 4in forward in August 2017, but he eventually remained in Naples.
And now, a move for the Italy international seems to be completely out of the question.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis told Corriere dello Sport how he would not even contemplate selling Insigne for anything less than £178 million:

“Insigne? He has a symbolic release clause. With [his agent] Raiola we decided that we are only going to sell him for € 200 million. It’s not a written agreement but a verbal one. Two-hundred million, right?”
Jürgen Klopp has spent heavily over the past two transfer windows, although he is still yet to bring in anyone to fill the void left behind by Coutinho.
Judging by De Laurentiis’ comments, though, it is unlikely that Insigne will be arriving at Anfield anytime soon.
