A year ago Leeds United decided to part with their young striker Luke Parkin. The forward left the club on a free transfer at the end of last March, agreeing to terminate his contract with the club by mutual consent two months early so he could begin his search for a new team.

He was a promising prospect at Leeds but was simply not looking likely to play first-team football for the club anytime soon.

He featured on trial for Sheffield Wednesday just days after his release. The Brighouse Echo report that he went on to spend pre-season at AFC Fylde and have a brief spell at Gainsborough Trinity.

So, one year on, what is Parkin up to now?

He is keeping it simple and playing football with his local team Brighouse Town. The 21-year-old, who is also working as a coach, unfortunately is among the many young footballers that do not make the grade at professional clubs.

In the coming months, Leeds, along with many other teams, will release plenty of players who never make it as a pro.

Hopefully the Whites do not let go of any future stars in haste.
