It is now nearly one year since Remi Garde left Aston Villa.

The Frenchman had taken over from Tim Sherwood at Villa Park in November of last term, with the hope he could turn around the fortunes of the fallen giants.

That did not prove the case.

He struggled to get anything like a renaissance brewing in the Midlands and he left in March last year, with Villa still rock bottom of the Premier League.

A year down the line and Garde has still not found himself more employment, but has reportedly turned down a massive job in his French homeland.

It is reported by Foot01 that Garde has rejected the role of National Technical Director for the senior French national team.

The report claims Garde wants to work in club management again, as he has also decided against similar director roles with the likes of Nantes and Lorient.

Garde would have been in charge of being a major liaison between club and country regarding their players being called up by Les Bleus coach Didier Descchamps.

Aston Villa fans would suggest that Garde, with a record of two wins six draws and 12 defeats in his 18 Premier League games in charge, will go down as one of their worst managers in recent memory. But not many would begrudge him any success at another club in the future.
