The Israeli had teams interested in his services from England a year ago.

This time last year it was looking increasingly likely that Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton had his eyes on a move away from Parkhead. The Israeli international had been linked with Premier League clubs such as Sunderland after an impressive season with the Bhoys.

But, a year ago today, his agent Dudu Dahan made it clear that the midfield dynamo would not be leaving Celtic at the end of the season.

He was quoted by the Daily Mail as stating:

“Nir Bitton belongs to Celtic first and foremost. But they have offers for him from three or four Premier League teams in England.

“He is under contract until 2020. And you can definitely quote me on this – he will clearly stay at Celtic next year.”

In hindsight, might he wish he had?

Bitton has not been one of the players at Parkhead to benefit from the arrival of Brendan Rodgers as manager.

Bitton, a regular starter for Celtic for the past two seasons, has found himself on the bench at times under Rodgers and must be wondering whether his career at Celtic is coming to an end.

This summer teams are undoubtedly set to circle around the Celtic star yet again, as his ability is undoubted. After a mixed season, perhaps a move away from Glasgow will be more appealing to the player one year down the line.
