The Rangers midfielder excelled after leaving Steven Gerrard’s side on loan a year ago, but has now returned to Ibrox.
The Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty impressed there on loan last season.
Now Shrewsbury Town have turned to a former Rangers player to help fill the void created upon Docherty’s return to Ibrox.
Sean Goss, who spent the second half of 2017/18 on loan to Rangers, has signed a two-year deal with the League One side.
Docherty scored or made 21 goals in 50 games for Shrewsbury last season – 16 more than Goss has managed throughout his professional career. And his will be some boots to fill.
Goss, whose QPR exit was sanctioned by the former Rangers manager Mark Warburton, is one of a trio of new midfielders signed by the Shrews this week – alongside Luke McCormick and Louis Thompson.
And it may take all three to replicate Docherty’s success.
Docherty’s Rangers chances looked to have increased after an impressive summer, although Thursday’s acquisition of Andy King on loan from Leicester City could limit the boyhood Gers fan’s chances.
