If Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa watched the first half of Manchester City’s League Cup win on Tuesday, he might be tempted to renew an interest in Brahim Diaz.

According to The Sun, Bielsa wanted the 19-year-old attacking midfielder at Leeds last summer but a move to Elland Road never materialised.

Diaz enjoyed a superb first 45 minutes last night as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Leicester City to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

But he faded in the second half and Guardiola withdrew him after 66 minutes, though he looked a terrific prospect nonetheless.

And here’s how fans on Twitter – including some Leeds supporters – reacted to his display:

Diaz is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium next summer and Guardiola recently told BBC Sport that he would do ‘absolutely everything’ to keep him, but the Spaniard admitted that he could do little if the player wanted to leave the Premier League champions.

And it just so happens that Leeds need somebody of Diaz’s talents, amid Samu Saiz’s imminent return to Spain.

Will Bielsa renew an interest? Based on that first half last night, he should.
