Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, James McFadden has tipped Harry Kane to have a fantastic season despite his clear desire to leave Tottenham this summer.
Some players allow their desire to leave a club to affect their performances on the pitch – look at someone like Carlos Tevez at Manchester City, while others keep their standards high and get on with their jobs – for example, Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United all of those years ago.
McFadden believes Kane will act in a very professional manager, tipping him for a fantastic season.
What’s been said?
McFadden gave his verdict on Kane.
“They’ve got a player there on a three year contract, they hold all of the aces. Tottenham have got what they want and the one thing I will say is that Harry will just get on with it and go and play his football. He’ll score goals for Tottenham, he’ll do his best. They’ve had a fantastic start and I’m sure Harry will have a fantastic season again,” McFadden said.
Absolutely
It’s hard to imagine a world where Kane doesn’t give it his all for Tottenham.
Yes, he wanted to leave this summer, but he’s said on numerous occasions that he’s fully focused on this season, and he still has that all-important Premier League goalscoring record in his sights.
If he’s going to break Alan Shearer’s record, the striker needs to be at his best every time he steps onto the pitch, and this season will be no different.
Kane should still be Spurs’ star man, regardless of what happens off the pitch.
