Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter to their former player Adam Armstrong signing for Southampton.
This deal is significant for Newcastle because they will seemingly get a 40% sell-on from the £15 million deal, according to Sky reporter Keith Downie.
In 2018, the Magpies parted ways with Armstrong and he has since gone on to prove his worth by tearing it up in England’s second-tier.
And now the Newcastle supporters are wondering whether he will come back to haunt them ahead of the new Premier League season.
Armstrong isn’t the only former St James’ Park graduate that has returned to England’s top-tier because Ivan Toney will also be donning the colours of Brentford.
It won’t be too long before they are putting the ball into the back of the net against Newcastle because it does seem as though it’s written in the stars.
But before then, Newcastle fans are now hoping this Armstrong deal to St Mary’s can quicken their chances of signing Joe Willock.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Magpies are going to use some of that sell-on to put into the Willock pot because Mike Ashley never misses a turn.
That was pointed out by the Newcastle fans who are getting a little restless at having to wait for Willock to be snapped up.
