Manchester City defender John Stones had a quiet afternoon on Saturday as his side beat rivals Manchester United.
The two Manchester sides met in the early kick-off in a highly-anticipated first meeting in the Premier League between Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.
It proved to be the latter who came out victorious as goals from Kevin de Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho saw them to a 2-1 victory, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic getting United’s goal.

Before the game, much of the talk was how Stones would deal with the Swedish star in the game and the stats show that the former Everton man was largely quiet throughout.
He managed 71 touches in total, with all of those proving to be successful ones.
He also won one tackle, two interceptions and two defensive duels in total.

Clearances were where he really shone, posting nine effective clearances, the most of any Manchester City player, as well as three effective headed clearances, the joint-second most of City’s stars.
His passing was at its usual standard, as he registered 38 accurate passes in total and enjoyed an overall pass success of 76%.
A largely quiet display, though, although he is unlikely to care much given his side’s victory.
