Rangers beat Hearts 2-0 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.

Rangers enjoyed a superb Saturday afternoon, as they beat Hearts 2-0 at Ibrox to make it five wins in their last six league games under Graeme Murty.
The Gers had hammered Hamilton Academical 5-3 away from home last week, and followed that up with a strong performance against Hearts as Jamie Murphy and Russell Martin struck their first Ibrox goals since arriving in January.
Rangers have kicked on since the turn of the year, and their impoved form is a direct result of their impressive January business – and one goal against Hearts summed up just how impressive their additions in 2018 have been.

Rangers’ opening goal against Hearts started with midfielder Sean Goss, a loan signing from QPR, executing a fine Cruyff turn to open up the defence before picking out James Tavernier, who in turn found another new addition, Greg Docherty.
Docherty – a recent signing from Hamilton as he joined his boyhood club – faked to shoot before playing in a smart pass to winger Murphy, whose individual brilliance shone through from there.
The Brighton loanee, who is another boyhood Rangers fan, danced through a number of Hearts defenders and even rounded goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin before tucking away a cool finish from close range.

The goal showed class, ingenuity, smart decision making and outstanding skill from three of Murty’s January signings, as British players are once again coming to the fore at Ibrox.
After the scattergun transfer dealings under Pedro Caixinha, Rangers are getting plenty of productivity out of their most recent additions – and both Murty and director of football Mark Allen will hope to keep that up after the first goal against Hearts showed the class of three new signings.
